Hundreds of law enforcement officers from across Nebraska will participate in the 22nd Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics from Sunday, May 13, through Thursday, May 17, 2007. The run will begin at the Scottsbluff Monument on Sunday and will end on Thursday evening at Creighton University in Omaha where the Opening Ceremonies will begin at 7:30 p.m. In 2006, Nebraska law enforcement officers from local, county, state and federal agencies raised nearly $153,000.00 as they ran the Special Olympics torch across the state to light the flame at the Opening Ceremonies. The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest grassroots fundraising effort for Special Olympics Nebraska.
A welcome party is planned in Lincoln on Wednesday, May16, 2007, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Lewis Fields, |
