Northeast Team Concludes Traffic Enforcement Grant
The Lincoln Police Department’s Northeast Team, led by Captain Doug Srb, recently completed a year long project directed at reducing accidents and increasing school zone traffic safety. On-duty officers and additional officers funded by a grant provided by the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety, targeted school zones, traffic signals and 18 different high accident locations in Northeast Lincoln during this effort.
The following is a summary of the project results:
24 different traffic sets ending with 389 official and warning citations
School selective enforcement increased by 25%
Traffic signal enforcement increased by 11%
The Lincoln Police Department encourages all motorists to obey local speed limits, pay attention to the roadway in front of them and to wear safety belts.
