Police Department
DUI TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PROJECT BEGINS
The Lincoln Police Department will be conducting a special traffic enforcement project during two separate weekends in October to remind citizens that Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving.
This enforcement effort will be conducted Friday and Saturday, October 24th- 25th 2008 and the following weekend Friday and Saturday, October 31st- November 1st. The project will begin at 10:00 p.m. each night and conclude at 3:00 a.m. Officers will be focusing primarily on drivers who are impaired and will also be looking for other traffic and safety violations. To culminate the project, a safety and sobriety checkpoint will take place on Saturday, November 1st.
Funding is provided by a grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS).
Citizens are reminded to drive safely and buckle up. Designate your sober driver before the parties begin. If you know someone who is about to drive or ride while impaired, take their keys and help them make other arrangements to get to where they are going safely.
