Lincoln Man Arrested for Church Embezzlement
On the morning of May 5, 2008, thirty-nine year old Todd Termaat was cited and lodged in Lancaster County Jail for Class III Felony Theft. Termaat served as the non-paid volunteer treasurer for Holy Savior Lutheran Church from 1999 until he resigned in January 2008. The investigation has shown that, from June 29, 2005 to February 21, 2007, Todd Termaat wrote and cashed 36 unauthorized checks for a total loss of $16, 345. During the time period of the thefts, Termaat was the only authorized signature for the church.
Todd Termaat also faces Felony Theft charges based on an investigation at Wyuka Cemetary conducted by Nebraska State Patrol earlier this year.
In 1997, Termaat was found guilty and sentenced to three years probation for the theft of over $50,000 while serving as a staff accountant at a local Lincoln accounting firm.
