Project Safe Neighborhoods Results
On Friday, July 24, 2009, the Lincoln Police Department conducted its fifty-sixth Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) grant detail.
Two areas of Lincoln have been identified as having a higher crime rate with a history of gun related crimes. The two identified areas, located within the Southwest Team, were the focus of the detail. Six Lincoln Police Officers were assigned to saturation patrol. The saturation portion instructs officers to make a high number of contacts of individuals within the target area, demonstrating a "zero tolerance" approach to issues in these neighborhoods. Several officers also participated in an undercover prostitution and street crimes operation.
