"Click It or Ticket" Project Results
The Lincoln Police Department's Traffic Enforcement Unit participated in a nationwide "Click it or Ticket" Enforcement effort from Monday, May 23rd through Sunday, June 5th, 2011. Special attention by law enforcement officers was directed to those motorists who failed to buckle up themselves, their passengers and children. During the detail, seatbelt usage increased from an average of 64.8% at the start to 71.8% usage at its conclusion. The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety provided funding for additional officers to assist with this enforcement.
