"Click It or Ticket" Traffic Enforcement Results
The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) Traffic Enforcement Unit recently concluded its involvement in the nationwide "Click it or Ticket" enforcement effort. Officers conducted enforcement throughout the City from Monday, May 21, 2012 through Sunday, June 3, 2012, concentrating on areas with high injury accident rates. Special emphasis was placed on child restraint violations and drivers not wearing seatbelts.
During the detail, seatbelt usage increased from an average of 69.8% at the start to 77% usage at its conclusion. Funding for the increased enforcement was provided by a grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
LPD issued the following citations during the enforcement project:
