Lincoln Police Investigate Shooting
The Lincoln (NE) Police Department is investigating the death of 19 year old Naif Al-Kazahy. At 11:52 p.m., July 29, 2012, officers responded to the report of a shooting at S.14th & Sumner Streets. The victim was transported to the hospital and underwent surgery, but did not survive his injuries.
Initial witness statements describe the victim, his brother and a friend arguing with a group of individuals at 1328 Sumner Street. The incident escalated to a physical altercation and one man produced a shotgun. A single shot was fired, which struck Naif Al-Kazahy in the chest. The men involved knew one another and it is not the first time they have argued.
At 6:00 a.m., July 30, 2012, with the assistance of the Lincoln Police Department SWAT Team, a search warrant was served at 1328 Sumner Street. No one was found at the residence. The investigation is on-going. Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene for evidence. Officers are still searching for the suspect and others that witnessed the shooting.
