The Lincoln Police Department, in conjunction with the Lincoln Public Works Department, has developed plans to accommodate traffic and pedestrians during the upcoming 2002 UNL Football season.
Please use the Airport Exit as an alternative to the Downtown Exit off of I-80, especially if you intend to park north or west of the downtown area in Haymarket Park. For those who will be using the west pedestrian bridge between Haymarket Park and 8th/S Street, officers will be there to facilitate traffic flow at the S Street intersection. Officers will help with pedestrian crossings to the east where they can reconnect with the bike trail and the crosswalk leading to the stadium.
Stadium Drive, in front of the stadium, will be closed to all vehicular traffic. Passenger pick up will not be allowed in front of the stadium before or after the game.
The loop, East Side of the stadium, 14th and Vine to 12th and U Streets will be closed to vehicle traffic except Star Tran buses.
The following traffic patterns are in effect AFTER THE GAME:
The Lincoln Police Department will have officers directing traffic at key location to assist traffic flow.
Take advantage of convenient parking at one of the downtown parking garages. All of the garages will be open and some will have a presale program where you can purchase guaranteed parking in advance for all home football games. Parking stalls are available for presale by calling 441-6472.
Parking rates in city garages for football Saturdays will be $10.00 excluding Center Park and Carriage Park, which will be $8.00. There is an additional garage in operation at 9th and Q Street this year. The new Haymarket Garage will rent spaces for $10.00 per game.
Haymarket Park, the home of the Saltdogs and UNL Baseball will have some season parking packages available as well as a limited number of game day parking spots available. Daily parking is $10.00. To order a season parking pass for all games please call 472-3111 at the Huskers phone line or go to Huskers.com.
The University of Nebraska parking garage at 17th and Q Street may have available spaces on game days. Contact UNL Parking at 472-1800 for information.
Find legal parking for your vehicle. Utilize off-street parking. Vehicles blocking drives, parked too close to the intersection, parked on public right-of-way and interfering with vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be towed.
StarTran will again be providing the Big Red Express special shuttle service for all UNL home football games this year.
In addition to regular route service, StarTran will be operating express bus service to and from the home football games from seven outlying locations. Please click on the above link for further info or call Startran Customer Service at 476-1234.
Handicapped parking is at Stadium Drive and Avery Drive Lot#8 on a first come first served basis for $7.00.
Taxi Stand will be at Stadium Drive and Avery.
Open containers of alcohol are prohibited on city streets and sidewalks. We ask that minors not be given or served alcohol, new legislation allows for a MIP citation to be issued if the minor has alcohol in their system. Find alternative beverages for those who are not 21 years old.
A reminder that the west pedestrian bridge is city property and open containers of alcohol are not allowed.
City streets and sidewalks are needed for the efficient flow of pedestrians and cars. We want to remind everyone that the sale of goods, tickets, beads, pom poms, etc. on city property is not allowed. Officers will issue citations for violations that inhibit the use of the street or sidewalk.
