Cashier Job Description

The main aspect of this position is to handle cash parkers, which is to ensure that the appropriate charge is collected from all customers. The cashier is also responsible for the following items.

  • Ticket Handling: Ensuring that all tickets have the amount charged on each ticket as well as entrance/exit times. Then upon completion of shift ensuring that all tickets are properly sorted.
  • Accuracy: While working with cash, be very careful and accurate at all times. Be equally careful in charging customers. Errors, particularly overcharging leave a bad impression on customers.
  • Checking Out: You will be required to fill out a "Shift Checkout Sheet" at the end of each shift. You will be expected to complete this document neatly and accurately. Tickets must tally with the cash.
  • Disputes: Occasionally you may have a disagreement with a customer. If this occurs, seek assistance, if possible. Never get into an argument with a customer. Giving in may result in lost revenue which is rightfully yours but it will help ensure that the customer leaves happy. Always report incidents such as this to your supervisor as soon as possible after the occurrence.
  • Cash Receipts: Any customer who has been charged for parking has the right to ask you for a cash receipt. You should comply with his/her wishes courteously using the cash receipt button on the fee computer.
  • Maintenance: Cashiers are responsible for maintaining the appearance of their booth and areas surrounding it.
  • Customer Service: It is important that you remember how important your actions are as a reflection of the company's attitude toward customer service. Please remain courteous and helpful.
  • Vehicle counts in the facilities to assure that we have enough spaces for all of our patrons.
  • Check all ticket spitters and gates to ensure that they are working properly and are properly stocked with tickets and the correct time is on equipment. Also, to ensure that all machines are kept clean and wiped down from dirt.
  • Aid with snow removal and throwing down snow melt during winter season.
