Mayor Reorganizes City of Lincoln Parking System
A new phase of downtown revitalization has begun. After decades of watching stores and restaurants leave, new businesses are opening in downtown Lincoln. In order to support the success of these ventures and to better serve the visitors and employees of the downtown area, Mayor Beutler has reorganized the City of Lincoln Parking function. A fourteen member committee will help guide the transition from the Public Works and Utilities Department to the Urban Development Department, as well as assisting in forming the new parking management structure. This opportunity will allow the parking system to better evaluate the future parking needs of downtown Lincoln while working to provide better service and support for our current parkers.
Monthly Parking Now Available at 14th and 'Q' Street
City of Lincoln Parking has opened a new parking lot at the corner of 14th and 'Q' Streets. A portion of the 99 spaces will be available for monthly parking. The daily cost is $1.00 an hour up to $5.00 a day. Monthly parking is $55.00. Contact the main office at 441-6472 for more information.

New, Eco-Friendly Parking Lot
Approximately fifty people including engineering students from UNL and local contractors gathered a th t the City parking lot at corner of 27 and 'F' to learn about and witness the installation of a new, environmentally friendly surface lot. In a coordinated effort with Storm Water Management, roughly forty percent of the lot was resurfaced with a material called pervious concrete. Pervious concrete, which is solid like normal concrete, is engineered to act like gravel when it rains, allowing 3-8 gallons of water per minute to pass through the concrete and into the ground instead of running off the lot and into the sewers. A rain garden to catch and treat the remaining water runoff from the rest of the lot was also planted. It is expected that between the pervious concrete and the rain garden, storm water will be reduced up to 80%.
