Asphalt Patching Guidelines

1. Mix for patching on Arterial Streets must be a City approved Superpave Arterial Street Mix design unless otherwise directed by the Engineer.
2. Mix for patching on Non-Arterial Streets must be approved by the Project Manager and the Testing Lab before each placement.
3. Asphalt Cement must be an NDOR approved brand of PG 64-22 or better.
   1. AC content should be between 5% and 6% by total weight of mix.
4. Aggregate blend must consist of at least 85% crushed materials.
   1. No more than 80% Limestone materials.
   2. No more than 10% passing the #200 sieve.
   3. Nominal maximum size of the coarse aggregate ½" or smaller.
5. Mixes containing Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) shall not be used unless approved by the Engineer. Approval considerations will include but not be limited to location and extent of patching and source, mix type, and uniformity of RAP.
