Construction will soon be starting on Phase 1 of the Pine Lake Road Improvement Project. Pine Lake Road is scheduled to close between 84th and 91st Street on Monday, August 18th, 2008. The 91st Street connector will remain open for north-south traffic during this phase, except for a 1-week period when it will be necessary to build storm sewer across 91st Street for the project.

Pine Lake Road will also be closing between 91st and 95th Street/Glass Ridge Drive on Monday, August 25th, 2008. The 91st Street connector will remain open for north-south traffic during this phase, as will 95th Street and Glass Ridge Drive.

General Construction Information

The City of Lincoln has selected Dobson Brothers Construction to begin roadway and watermain construction on the segment of Pine Lake Road from 84th Street to 98th Street. The construction activities are scheduled to begin in August of 2008, with completion in September of 2009.

There are three main phases of construction for this project.

Construction may be going on concurrently between phases, but care will be taken to ensure residents adequate access in and out of the neighboring areas.

Although not a part of the Pine Lake Road Improvements project, roadway and watermain improvements to 98th Street, from Old Cheney Road to Yankee Hill Road, including the Pine Lake Road/98th Street intersection, are scheduled to start construction in the spring of 2009. A pre-construction open house will be scheduled for these projects prior to construction starting.

Project Overview

To meet current and future growth needs of southeast Lincoln, the City of Lincoln has completed design and is moving forward with re-construction of Pine Lake Road from 84th Street to 98th Street. Construction is scheduled to begin in August of 2008 and to be complete in September of 2009.

The emphasis of the project is on three goals: safety of vehicular and pedestrian traffic, capacity of the roadway to accommodate future growth, and improvement of traffic flow into and from the surrounding residential and commercial areas.

The project will widen Pine Lake Road to four through-lanes with curb and gutter, plus turning lanes from 84th to 91st streets, and improve the 91st and Pine Lake Road intersection. From 91st to 98th streets, construction will include a median, the inner two through-lanes with shoulders and ditches, and turning lanes of the future four-lane roadway. Sidewalks will be constructed throughout the project limits, and a trail undercrossing will be built east of the drainage way between 91st and 95th streets. A new signal will be constructed at 84th and Pine Lake Road, and a new watermain will be built along Pine Lake Road from 95th to 98th streets.
