2013 Citywide Street Rehabilitation
The City of Lincoln is proposing to mill and overlay the following street sections. The existing pavement will be milled 2" and overlaid with 2" of asphalt. Sub-standard ADA facilities (i.e. curb ramps and truncated domes) will be reconstructed to meet minimum requirements at all intersections.
1st from Nance to Superior
This project will include widening and resurfacing of 1st St., reconstruction of concrete curb and gutters, curb ramps and driveway approaches, as well as the construction of a 10-foot wide bike trail on the east side of 1st St. from Nance Ave. to Superior St. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2012.
S 14th and Warlick Remote Site
Information about the new design for the Old Cheney Road-Warlick Blvd.-14th Street intersection area to improve traffic operations and safety.
SW 40th Street Remote Site
The goals of this project are: to enhance the safety of the public and the railroad, to improve the operation of the area transportation system for its users by eliminating the delay at the BNSF rail crossing through construction of a grade separation over the railroad tracks, and to replace the deficient county bridge over Middle Creek.
56th from Old Cheney to Shadow Pines Dr.
Highlights include turn lanes, a new drainage structure, wetland detention cells, a pedestrian under-crossing and median construction
56th from Pine Lake to Yankee Hill
This project includes reconstruction of 56th Street from Thompson Creek Blvd. through Yankee Hill, and improvements at the intersection of Yankee Hill Road and 56th Street.
West 'A' from SW 40th to Coddington
This project will extend from SW 40th Street to Coddington Ave.
East Beltway
The East Beltway will constitute the east leg of a circumferential freeway system around Lincoln that will be made up of Interstate 80 to the north, the Homestead Expressway (Hwy 77) to the west, and the South Beltway to the south.
South Beltway (NDOR) Remote Site
The South Beltway will be a new four-lane freeway across the southern suburban area of Lincoln and Lancaster County.
West Beltway (NDOR) Remote Site
The project involves upgrading existing US-77 to freeway standards from Saltillo Road, north to I-80.
Old Cheney from 70th to 82nd
Because of rising traffic volumes, Old Cheney's existing two-lane rural street will be upgraded to a four-lane urban street with turn lanes, curbs and gutters. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2013.
Pine Lake from 56th to Highway 2
The roadway will have 4 lanes with turn lanes, a raised median, sidewalks, curbs, and storm sewers.
US Hwy. 6 / Sun Valley Boulevard Study Remote Site
This project is studying how to provide an efficient roadway, improve traffic operations, resolve existing roadway deficiencies, and accommodate locally adopted plans for US 6 between West 'O' Street and Cornhusker Highway.
