Haymarket Street and Streetscape Improvements

Scope of Work

The project’s street improvements will include the mill and overlay of existing asphalt and restriping of lanes and parking stalls. The project will also include improvements to pedestrian nodes from 7th to 9th and “N” to “S” Streets in the Historic Haymarket. Pedestrian curb ramps will be reconstructed to meet Federal and local standards.

Construction began March 19th, and is scheduled to be substantially complete at the end of August 2018.

Resurfacing began on July 9th. The first phase of work will include “P” Street, between 7th and 9th streets and “R” Street, between 8th and 9th streets. Following completion of those streets, resurfacing work on 8th Street will begin. Message signs will be used to alert drivers of street closure changes as work progresses in the area.
