"J" and "L" from 53rd to 55th Stormwater Drainage Project
This project is located in the Dead Mans Run watershed and is bounded by "J" and "L" Streets, from 53rd to 55th Streets. The City of Lincoln is seeking to remedy some of the drainage issues in this area which include: structural and non-structural flooding, ponding in low-lying areas, and bringing the drainage system in the study area into compliance with current City of Lincoln Drainage Standards.
New curb inlets will be built, along with associated storm drain pipes, in an effort to alleviate some of the storm water ponding along "J" and "L" Streets. Additionally, a grate inlet will be constructed in the low area south of "J" Street, just west of 54th Street.

March 25, 2014
The City of Lincoln has awarded the contract to Skoda Construction Company of Lincoln, Nebraska, and the contractor has indicated work will begin March 31, 2014. The completion date for the project is May 26, 2014. The construction of storm sewer pipe in "J" and "L" Streets will require the closure of the streets while the contractor is completing the work. Access to driveways will also be restricted as the work progresses. The construction will be within the paved limits of the street and should not impact the adjoining driveways. The construction of the inlets will require excavations in the right-of-way between the sidewalks and curb. The contractor is required to restore the grass and sod after the construction is complete.
We request the patience and cooperation of residents and drivers in this area as the contractor progresses with this work. The Public Works and Utilities Department will administer this contract and JEO Consulting will provide the construction management and inspection of the project.
