Open House Scheduled on Water Main Improvements
The public is invited to an open house Thursday, July 12 on a water main improvement project in the area of Holdrege Street and Carlos Drive. The open house is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Atrium at Capitol City Christian Church, 7800 Holdrege. Those attending may park in the church lot and use the northwest entrance.
The purpose of the project is to meet the increasing demand for water infrastructure as the City grows. The project involves the installation of a 54-inch diameter water transmission main along Holdrege Street from about 87th Street west to Carlos Drive and along Carlos Drive connecting to the existing water main at the intersection with East Avon Lane. It also includes additional sanitary sewer construction along Carlos Drive from East Avon Lane to Starr Street.
Holdrege Street will have lane restrictions during construction, and it will be closed for a period of time at the intersection at Carlos Drive. Portions of Carlos Drive will be closed as construction proceeds through the area. Construction is anticipated to begin in late July.
Representatives from the City Public Works and Utilities Department, Judds Brothers Construction and The Schemmer Associates will be available to discuss the construction schedule and coordination with residents in the area of the project area.
