56th Street and Elkcrest Drive
Intersection Safety Improvement Project
The City of Lincoln Department of Public Works and Utilities would like to take this opportunity to invite you to an open house regarding the 56th Street and Elkcrest Drive Intersection Safety Improvement Project.
On Thursday, August 2, 2007 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Old Cheney Alliance Church, 5201 Old Cheney Road, Engineers from the Public Works and Utilities Department will be available to answer questions about the safety improvement project that will modify the geometry of the intersection. This Safety Project will construct 11' wide painted left-turn lanes on all legs of the intersection and will remove the span wire traffic signal, replacing it with a new mast arm system. This will improve overall vehicle safety and operations. Elements of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), such as digital message signs (DMS), will be constructed with the project. The project is currently in the design stage and is tentatively scheduled for construction in Summer 2008.
Members of the public may attend anytime it is convenient between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to review the proposed project and environmental findings. Representatives from the City Public Works and Utilities Department will be available to explain the project. The design team will be seeking public input on the proposed improvements and will be available to meet with you one-on-one to answer your questions.
If you cannot attend the open house and have questions or would like more information, see the City Website, www.lincoln.ne.gov, keyword: elkcrest, or contact a project representative listed below.
