Wastewater Projects: Salt Valley Trunk Sewer Phase V

Pre-Construction Fact Sheet (9/2005)

Phase V

Lincoln Wastewater System (LWWS) proposes to improve the existing trunk sewer that generally follows the BNSF railroad east of Highway 77 from just south of Pioneers Boulevard to Old Cheney Road. This project ties into Phase IV on the north and runs south to connect with an existing 48-inch pipe just south of Old Cheney Road.

This project is designed to extend the current Salt Valley sanitary sewer system and provide additional capacity necessary for future growth of South and Southwest Lincoln. The existing 24-inch trunk sewer will be supplemented with a 60-inch pipe to prepare for this growth.

During design, project team members have coordinated with the Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department and the Nebraska Department of Corrections. The proposed alignment will have minimal impact on Wilderness Park, but mainly remain along the future Jamaica North Trail and the old Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way.
