Valdeen Nelsen and Paul Knopp collaborated on the design and painting of this rain barrel. Both were born and raised in Nebraska, and after traveling and living in other parts of the world, both made conscious commitments to reside in Lincoln, Nebraska-in the heart of the Tallgrass praire and Nebraska's "Good Life". Valdeen is a licensed massage therapist who also works part-time at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with Partners in Pollution Prevention, an environmental technical assistance program. Paul has worked in member services for the Arbor Day Foundation the past 11 years. He is an avid bicyclist and golfer.
Eastern Nebraska's Tallgrass prairie, where artists Valdeen Nelsen and Paul Knopp have chosen to live, provides a constant display of color, shape and texture to delight the senses. A variety of wild flowers and grasses of all sizes and forms are daily reminders of the simple pleasures and delights of life on the Nebraska plains.
