Urban Storm Drain Project
Description:
The existing storm drain system is undersized and floods at roadway intersections and in low lying locations during heavy rain events. The solution is to build a grass-lined channel at 52nd & 'Q' to accommodate stormwater that the existing pipe can't handle. The box culvert at 50th and 'R' cannot be increased to a size to fully eliminate the flooding without causing flooding to areas downstream. However, underground pipe will be added to the north of 'R' Street to reduce street flooding in that area as much as possible without having an adverse impact to downstream property owners. See fact sheet for more information.
