About the Artist
"Prairie Sunset" was painted by artist Carol Rustad. Carol has a Master of Fine Arts degree, with an emphasis in Drawing and Painting, from the University of Nebraska. Her paintings are found in numerous collections in the United States and abroad. Nebraska wildflowers and grasses are the subjects of many of these paintings.
In "Prairie Sunset" she speaks of the adaptability of the plants found in the Nebraska virgin prairies.
These plants - Switchgrass, Prairie Dropseed, and Big Bluestem - produce extremely deep roots in order to survive the periods of draught which occur in Nebraska. Hopefully the people population of Nebraska will follow this type of adaptability by embracing measures for water conservation.
