About the Artist
Kathi Woody

Kathi Woody has lived in Lincoln, NE most of her life. Kathi has a husband, Mike, and two sons, Jason, 26 and Travis, 19. She has a B.S. in Fashion Merchandising from UNL and began her artistic interests when she was enrolled in art classes at a young age.

Every now and then, an opportunity comes along that just makes sense, like the "Artistic Rain Barrel Program" as a fun way to educate the community on the benefits of using rain barrels to be more environmentally friendly.

Kathi works for Ayars & Ayars, Inc. which is a design build Construction Company in a new corporate office at 48th & Huntington, which is in line to become the Lincoln's first private LEED Gold-Certified building. She invites you to tour their new "Green" facility.

Artwork Interpretation
"Shimmery, Sparkly, Raindrops"

Location: Scooters Coffee, 2909 S 84th St.

My design for the rain barrel starts at the lid with the rain clouds and hidden sun forming the raindrops. I used various colors of blue depicting the sky, the clouds, drops of rain and the waves of lakes. The uses of "glitter" over these colors add shimmer, sparkle and shine, to increase the appreciation of the natural effects of water and light.
