Have you ever wondered how to make a garden both beautiful and ecologically functional? Now you can! A rain garden is a garden of native perennials, grasses and shrubs planted in a depression which captures rainwater runoff from your roof, driveway and patio. Rain gardens significantly reduce the amount of storm water runoff and surface water pollution leaving your property. Join us to learn how to design, install and choose plants for a rain garden, among other water quality topics. This class is interactive—the first half will be spent in the classroom and the second half installing an actual rain garden in Lincoln—so come prepared for digging! You will receive an illustrated handbook to take with you and all the knowledge you need to build a rain garden. Co-sponsored by City of Lincoln Watershed Management and the Nebraska Environmental Trust.
Supplies provided by Nebraska Environmental Trust. Class is weather permitting and will be rescheduled due to rain. Class will be held at the Warren United Methodist, 1205 N. 45.
