About the Project

This project is part of a larger effort within the City to improve water quality, specifically the Holmes Lake Watershed. Design work is complete for the project, which will include stabilizing the banks to prevent ongoing erosion, constructing additional water quality wetland areas, and protecting areas of high foot traffic.

How will this project affect Antelope Creek, Holmes Lake, and the dog park?

This project will:

  • Improve the water and vegetation habitat for wildlife
  • Stabilize a failing stream bank, which will protect a trail and reduce erosion and sediment entering the stream
  • Protect stream banks and stream crossings that experience high levels of erosion due to canine traffic
  • Provide water quality wetlands that will treat the stream stormwater after storm events

Construction

Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2011. The dog park will remain open while construction is under way, and fencing will be used to ensure the safety of park users, both human and canine.
