The Community Development Division provides financial and technical
assistance to improve the social, economic, and physical environment of the community --
particularly for low- and moderate-income persons, regardless of race, color, religion,
national origin, sex, familial status or handicap. Means used include, but are not limited to:
Conservation, improvement, and expansion of the City's housing stock,
Elimination of slums and blight and prevention of blighting influences,
Elimination of conditions that are harmful to health, safety, and welfare of Lincoln's
citizens,
Expansion and improvement of the quality of community services as they directly
impact revitalization efforts,
Improvement and expansion of economic opportunities,
Preservation and protection of historic and architecturally significant structures,
Efficient and sensitive use of land and other natural resources, and
Geographic expansion of housing opportunities for persons of lower income.
