Construction of Heartland Optical's new facility is completed at 27th & Apple Streets. The company chose to remain in the neighborhood, continuing their wholesale eyeglass services and adding a retail optical facility. |
| Across 27th Street, directly west of the new Heartland Optical facility, the Peoples Health Center has completed their second phase of construction. The additional space allows them to provide behavior health services, in addition to primary medical and dental care. |

In the same area, the Great Plains Trail Network has completed fundraising for the MOPAC West Trail Bridge that will cross N. 27th Street near Y Street. The new trail bridge will be a vital link in Lincoln's trail system -- providing a safe crossing for a very busy arterial street and connecting the downtown and east campuses of the University of Nebraska. Construction is scheduled tol begin in the Spring of 2008.
