Job Creation

The Job Creation Program provides loans and loan guarantees for businesses that create or retain jobs that pay a living wage. Over half of the jobs created or retained must go to low-to-moderate income workers. Current projects include:

Universal Cold Storage
Universal Cold Storage began as a storage and distribution center of cold and frozen foods for local customers. Their scope has expanded to include meat processing at its new sister company, Universal Processing. Their Job Creation loans were used for facility expansion and equipment improvement and created 147 new jobs.

Arck/Cedar Hollow Foods
Formerly known as Arck Foods, Cedar Hollow Foods recently moved into its new Lincoln production and distribution facility. Due to new accounts and expanding order requests, the producer of premium ham products for sale at retail grocers needed a new, larger facility. The new location needed to include a distribution center, as well as the rest of the plant operations. Working together, the City of Lincoln (using the Job Creation Program) and the Small Business Administration were able to develop a financing package to retain Arck Food’s existing 39 Lincoln employees while adding 20 employees in both the production and distribution areas.
