Becoming a Worksite

The City of Lincoln is sponsoring a Summer Youth Employment Program this summer as a part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Funds from this Act will provide the wages and workers’ compensation coverage for youth ages 14 - 24 employed in this program.

We are seeking organizations that would like to participate as a worksite for the summer program. The program will begin in May and is scheduled to conclude in September of 2009. Youth can work up to 40 hours per week. Youth are referred to worksites based on their interest and their ability to get to and from the worksite. The worksite supervisor will make the hiring decisions. Each youth will be assigned a case manager while in the program.

All youth employed in the summer program are temporary employees of the City of Lincoln. These youth are not eligible for benefits such as vacation or sick leave, or for unemployment insurance benefits when the employment ends.
