Criminal Mischief to Mailboxes
THE LANCASTER COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE IS SEEKING YOUR HELP.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is investigating numerous recent incidents of criminal mischief to mailboxes over the last month. The Sheriff’s Office has investigated 100 cases thus far this year with 20 of those cases occurring since October 01, 2005. Damages to mailboxes this year alone is well over several thousand dollars.
As of the beginning of the year, 49 incidents of mailbox damage have occurred in the southeastern part of Lancaster County compared with seven in the southwestern area. The damage is occurring primarily during the late night and early morning hours of the day with most damage being caused by blunt force, possibly a baseball bat, or are run over by vehicles.
