Law Enforcement Memorial
May 15th of every year is Law Enforcement Memorial day across the nation. The
Lancaster County Sheriff's Office commemorates the occasion by honoring officers
and deputies who have fallen in the line of duty. The Sheriff's Office Honor Guard
attends the memorial service which has traditionally been held at the steps of the
Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln. Additionally, the Lancaster County Deputy Sheriff's
Association sends representatives to Washington, D.C., each year for police memorial
week.
Honor Guard
The Sheriff's Office Honor Guard is made up of deputies who have volunteered to
attend formal functions representing the Office. This includes funerals, memorial services,
and other occasions requested by the Sheriff. Deputies on the Honor Guard wear the
traditional dress uniform.
Sgt. Franklin Furrer and Deputy Craig Dodge were Lancaster County Sheriff's deputies who gave their lives serving our community.
