Minimum Educational Requirements for Employment

Director - Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in a social or behavioral science, public administration, criminal justice or related field plus administering programs within a minimum or maximum security correctional facility; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.

Deputy Director - Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in a social or behavioral science, public administration, criminal justice or related field plus administering programs within a minimum or maximum security correctional facility; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.

Administrative Services Officer - Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in public or business administration or related field or any equivalent combination of training and experience which would provide the desired knowledge, abilities, and skills.

Juvenile Detention Coordinator - Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in criminal justice, adolescent growth and development, psychology, sociology, social work or related field plus considerable experience supervising and working with juveniles in a public or private agency. Knowledge of the local and state juvenile-adult justice system. An equivalent combination of education and experience desired.

Records Manager - Graduation from a senior high school or equivalent supplemented by course work in records management, and experience in organizing and maintaining detailed record systems or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.

Training Coordinator - Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in criminal justice, human development or a related behavioral science field including some experience training or directing the work of others or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.

Juvenile Detention Supervisor - Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in criminal justice, adolescent growth and development, psychology, sociology, social work or related field plus considerable experience in program management, supervising care staff and working with juveniles in a public or private agency. Knowledge of the local and state juvenile-adult justice system. An equivalent combination of education and experience is desired.

Juvenile Detention Officer - Graduation from an accredited foru year college or university with major course work in criminal justice, adolescent growth and development, psychology, sociology, social work or related field plus experience supervising and training personnel within a juvenile detention/correctional facility.

Clerk Typists II - Graduation from a senior high school or equivalent including or supplemented by courses in business practices and some experience in general typing and clerical work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the desirable knowledge, abilities, and skills.

The Juvenile Detention Center has exciting opportunities for either experienced or gifted individuals to work in a secure or non-secure juvenile facility. We are constantly looking for both men and women who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of troubled adolescents. You would become familiar with the Juvenile Court system and juveniles in the Adult Court process. You would have the opportunity to complete intakes and discharges, transport youth to court sessions, manage behaviors with groups of youth and individually, conduct group activities and classes, and even develop new policies.
