AGENDA for a Meeting of the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners to Be
Held Tuesday, December 23, 1997 at 1:30 P.m. in the County Commissioners
Hearing Room, First Floor, County-City Building.
1) NEW BUSINESS:
A. Recommendation from the County Administrator and the
Purchasing Agent to reject a bid from Woods Construction
for the remodeling of Trabert Hall for a juvenile
facility.
B. A resolution authorizing the County Clerk to issue
payments while the County Board is adjourned.
2) ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners will NOT meet on
the following dates due to the holidays and relocation into
the new County-City Building:
Thursday, December 25, 1997
Tuesday, December 30, 1997
Thursday, January 1, 1997
3) EMERGENCY ITEMS AND OTHER BUSINESS:
4) PENDING:
A. Change of Zone Number 147, from AG Agricultural to AGR
Agricultural Residential, requested by Peter W. Katt on
behalf of Steve Champoux, on property located at the
northwest corner of 134th and "A" Streets in
Lancaster County, Nebraska.
B. Change of Zone from Ag Agricultural to AGR Agricultural
Residential, requested by Harry Muhlbach, on property
located west of North 56th Street (Highway 77)
between Mill Road and Raymond Road in Lancaster County,
Nebraska
(Change of Zone 165). (97-26) (Scheduled for further
discussion on April 7, 1998.)
5) ADJOURNMENT:
This agenda, which is kept continually current, is available for
inspection in the Office of the County Clerk in Lancaster County,
Nebraska.

1) NEW BUSINESS:
A. Recommendation from the County Administrator and the
Purchasing Agent to reject a bid from Woods Construction
for the remodeling of Trabert Hall for a juvenile
facility. (97-562)
Kerry Eagan, Chief Administrative Officer, said
approximately $87,000 was originally budgeted, however,
only one bid was received from Woods Construction for $160,000.
He said a meeting was held with Rob Abraham of Fred
Thompson & Associates, Dan Worth, Barb Vermeer and
Annette Zacherson of Bahr Vermeer & Haecker Architects to
look a various ways for reducing the cost of the project.
The following recommendations were made:
Extend construction for an additional 30 days
Reduction of ground fault interrupters and outlets
Use of an automatic door with an alarm
Reduction of rooms which are secure from the outside
Use of plastic light fixtures instead of tamper
resistant fixtures
Eagan recommended to proceed with notification of
rejection of bid and prepare notice that the proposal
will be rebid.
MOTION: Hudkins moved and Tussing seconded to reject the bid from
Woods Construction, modify the bid request and direct staff
and the Purchasing Department to rebid the item. On call
Campbell, Hudkins, Svoboda and Tussing voted aye. Motion
carried.
B. A resolution authorizing the County Clerk to issue
payments while the County Board is adjourned. (97-561) (R-5610)
MOTION: Tussing moved and Svoboda seconded approval. On call
Hudkins, Svoboda, Tussing and Campbell voted aye. Motion
carried.
2) ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Eagan announced the County Board will hold a meeting on
Tuesday, January 6, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. in addition to their
meeting at 1:30 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT:
MOTION: Tussing moved and Svoboda seconded to adjourn. On
call Svoboda, Tussing, Campbell and Hudkins voted aye.
Motion carried.
