If you disagree with the greenbelt disqualification notice sent by the County Assessor/Register of Deeds, you will need to file a written protest or objection in the Lancaster County Clerk's Office during regular office hours (Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Thursdays until 6:00 p.m.) beginning July 23 through August 21, 2008. Greenbelt protest forms and attachments must be received or postmarked no later than August 21, 2008 and must be submitted in TRIPLICATE (3 copies). Protests received after August 21st will be returned to the applicant. You can mail your protest form to:
Any attachments included with the protest must also be submitted in triplicate. Examples of relevant data the property owner/representative could use would be a Federal Tax Schedule F; a Farm Service Agency (FSA) number; and/or any type of document indicating the agricultural or horticultural use of the property.
Your objection must set forth the reasons you disagree with this disqualification and be signed by you.
You will have an opportunity to appear before the Board of Equalization to present your position. Once your protest has been received in the County Clerk's Office, you will be notified in writing of your greenbelt hearing date and time. If you cannot attend your hearing, please contact the County Clerk's Office at (402)441-8724 as soon as possible to reschedule.
