Special Designated License


Lancaster County's fees for Special Designated Licenses are $45.00 per application and they are limited to six days per year/per applicant. The fee may be paid when the application is received in the County Clerk's office, or when the Special Designated License is granted. Special Designated Licenses are limited to six days per year per applicant.

To make an application for a Special Designated Liquor License, please carefully review the following requirements:

  1. If your application is filed in the County Clerk's office no less than 21 working days (excluding holidays) prior to the date of your event, the County Clerk's office will do the following:

    • The County Clerk's office will request review and approval letters from the Lancaster County Engineering Department; Lincoln-Lancaster Health Department and the Lancaster County Sheriff's Department prior to the meeting of the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners.
    • The County Clerk's office will request your Special Designated License be placed on the agenda of the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners. You will be notified of, and expected to attend, this meeting to answer any questions or concerns prior to your event.
    • After the meeting, the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission will be notified of the approval or denial of the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners with regard to your application.
  2. If your application is not filed in the County Clerk's office 21 working days (excluding holidays) prior to the date of your event, the applicant will be required to do the following:

    • One original application must be filed with the County Clerk's office.
    • Three copies of your application must be delivered to the following offices with your request for an application review letter. These letters must be received by the County Clerk's office prior to the meeting for the Board of Commissioners review:

      * Lancaster County Engineering Department - 444 Cherrycreek Road, Bldg. C (441-7681)
      * Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department - 3140 N Street (441-8000)
      * Lancaster County Sheriff's Department - 575 So. 10th Street (441-6500) - Ask for Criminal Investigations, Sergeant's Desk

    • The County Clerk's office will request your Special Designated License application be placed on the agenda of the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners. You will be notified of, and expected to attend, this meeting to answer any questions or concerns prior to your event.
    • After your meeting, the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission will be notified of the approval or denial of the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners with regard to your application. Liquor Control is requiring ten days notice prior to your event.

The following "FILL-IN FORM" applications may be used to apply for a "Special Designated" license and you must be a non-profit organization or a licensed retailer:
