  2. Is the Election Commissioner elected or appointed?
    • The Election Commissioner is appointed by the Governor.

  3. What qualifications are there for a person to vote in any election?
    • 18 years of age or older on General Election Day (first Tuesday, after first Monday in November).
    • A citizen of the United States.
    • A resident of Nebraska.
    • Not convicted of a felony, or if convicted, it has been at least two years since the completion of the sentence for the felony including any parole term.
    • Not to have been found mentally incompetent.

  4. Does a person have to go to a voting place in order to cast a vote during any election?

  5. What should I do if I have moved since the last election?
    • Residents may register by mail. Voters changing address, name or party affiliation must re-register.

  6. How do I change my political party affliation?
    • By completing a new voter registration application and selecting your new party affliation. This can be done by mail or in person at the Election Office. For more information click here.

  7. How can a person find out when the next election will be held?
    • By calling the Election Office or checking out the election Calendar OnLine.

  9. How can a person file as a candidate for an office during any upcoming election?
    • By going into the Election Office to file. This will also give you the qualifications of the office you want to file as a candidate for.
