G.I.S. software allows for the creation 3 dimensional models to display various aspects of terrain. This example is a drape of a portion of a digital othophoto quarter quadrangle onto a terrain model created from the contour data digitized from the U.S.G.S. quadrangle maps. Water, roads, and annotation are added to highlight the effect.
