Partial Hospitalization
The Partial Hospitalization Program is an intermediate level of psychiatric treatment. It is more intensive than the typical outpatient service, and though equal to the hospital experience in terms of clinical interactions, it is not indicated for those patients needing protective supervision or regular nursing services.
Purpose:
To provide short-term,
intensive clinical interventions to those clients experiencing a marked
deterioration in levels of functioning. It is specifically for those
experiencing:
How does it work?
Treatment occurs primarily through the format of group therapy. The program
consists of a rigorous schedule of structured groups within which the
client's individually-developed goals are realized. Clients take an active
part in the treatment process from the point of admission screening: helping
develop treatment goals, interacting within the community milieu, and participating
in their discharge plans. Common outcomes include:
The program is based on the philosophy that, given adequate support and opportunities for improvement within a community milieu setting, clients can demonstrate control over psychiatric symptoms, maintain motivation and self-direction, improve social interaction, and practice adequate functioning within the general community. In most cases, with intensive short-term treatment coupled with ongoing support, clients can rebound faster from setbacks in the course of their illnesses, shorten crisis periods, and prevent hospitalization or re-hospitalization.
Who uses Partial Hospitalization?
Partial Hospitalization is an adjunct to other major psychiatric, psychological,
or social rehabilitation treatment. The program is designed to facilitate
use of Community Mental Health Center facilities and resources for a wide
range of people in the community. Referrals are accepted from physicians,
psychotherapists, and social service agencies in Southeast Nebraska. Fees
are based on ability to pay. The program qualifies for third-party payment,
including Medicaid, and is licensed and certified for providing services by
the State of Nebraska Health and Human Services.
