04/13/2007 The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash occurring at the intersection of Highway 77 and Waverly Road at 2025 hours on 04/13/2007. Preliminary investigation indicates an eastbound 2000 Toyota Corolla, driven by 18 year-old Yelena Tyshkun of rural Waverly, Nebraska, entered the intersection and struck a northbound vehicle, a 1999 Ford F250 pickup, driven by 42 year-old Gary Almery of rural Waverly, Nebraska. The intersection is guarded by east and westbound stop signs. Yelena Tyshkun was transported to BryanLGH West by air ambulance and treated for critical injuries. A passenger in her vehicle, 12 year-old Suzanna Tyshkun of rural Waverly, Nebraska, was transported to BryanLGH West by ground ambulance with life-threatening injuries, and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. Gary Almery was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. A passenger in his vehicle, 43 year-old Lori Estes of Greenwood, Nebraska, was transported to BryanLGH West by ground ambulance and treated for serious injuries. Airbags deployed in both vehicles. Preliminary investigation indicates that seat belts were not in use in either vehicle. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected at this time. The accident is being investigated by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office. Medical personnel from Raymond Rural Fire, Lincoln Fire and Rescue, and Star Care V all responded to the scene.
