In
1981, four arces of land were purchased from Dale Severin for a park
and ball field which would be located southwest of the cemetary. The
village purchased the land for the park and ballfield with the help
of organizations in the community and different fund-raisers.
The community united in order to build fences, park equipment,
plant trees, grass and grade the ball field. During the 1980's lights
were installed, a picnic shelter was built, a new brick concession
stand with indoor restrooms was constructed, a new chainlink fence
was installed around the ball field, and a new lighted
scoreboard was erected. In the course of just a couple of years,
Hallam Booster Club spearheaded fund raising efforts which
contriubited nearly $16,000 for the lighting fund.
In the spring of 1995 new playground equipment was installed by the Booster Club.
