HISTORY JOINING

HISTORY

The community of Waverly is within 10 miles of Lincoln, and therefore refers all of its medical problems to Lincoln. They also have a local volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad to assist in the transportation of people from their home to a hospital or other medical facility.

The Rescue Squad is the main focus of our Medical page and therefore I would like to go into some detail of how it began, who can join, what it takes to join, who are your current members, what they are working towards, and the activities they perform for their community.

The Waverly Resque Squad was esablished in 1979. It bought its first ambulance shortly afterword, in 1980. 1989-90 emergency services building was added on to fire department. In 1996 they became defibrillator certified. Established by Kathy Wilkinson, Diana Snyder, Carol Snyder, Gary Binder, Ginny Rohen, Judy Burcham. The first ambulance was purchased in 1980, and had about 200 calls a year. The WRS is an independant volunteer organization that is funded by the Rual Fire Protection District.
