Tom Beckius

Tom Beckius was elected to the Lincoln City Council in May, 2021. Born and raised in Lincoln, Tom is a graduate of Lincoln Southeast High School and University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Tom owns and operates several small businesses focused on real estate and construction.

Since 2009, Tom has served the city through volunteer governance with the Lincoln City Libraries, Community Health Endowment of Lincoln and Lincoln Commission on Human Rights. Immediately prior to his election to City Council, Tom served as Vice-Chair of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning Commission. Tom has also served in leadership roles with the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Realtors Association of Lincoln, Lincoln’s Young Professionals Group, NextGen at the Lincoln Community Foundation and OutNebraska. Tom currently serves on the Board of Counselors for University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Community Advisory Council for Lincoln Public Schools.

In 2022, Tom was named a Bohnett Leaders Fellow and studied at Harvard Kennedy School’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government program. He was a featured panelist at the National League of Cities’ 2022 City Summit conference. In 2023, Tom was selected as a NewDEAL Leader.

Tom serves on the West Haymarket Joint Public Agency, Public Building Commission, Lincoln Metropolitan Planning Organization and is a council liaison with the Downtown Lincoln Association.
