“A” from 89th to 93rd - Paving Project

Project Summary

This project on “A” Street between 89th and 93rd streets was designed to improve safety and traffic flow by adding one lane in each direction with a raised center median and roundabouts at the intersections of South 89th and South 93rd streets. ADA-accessible sidewalks, lighting and utility construction were included in the project.

As a part of the City’s commitment in the White Horse – S. 90th & “A” St. annexation agreement of April, 2017 and the Hillcrest – 93rd and “A” annexation agreement of November of 2018, this project will promote private sector investment into the community by helping serve 414 approved additional dwelling units through improving safety and capacity of the transportation system.

Lincoln on the Move funding was utilized in accordance with ballot language and supported by the Advisory Committee on Transportation (ACT).

Funding Details

This project was approved to receive a portion of the 25% of the revenues reserved for construction of new non-residential streets to promote private sector investment after receiving a recommendation from the Advisory Committee on Transportation.

The City already had several annexation agreements with developers regarding new streets in “growth” areas. However, many of these street projects could not get underway due to a lack of funding. The portion of the sales tax for new street construction to promote private sector investment will help these projects move forward.

Schedule

Construction began in October 2020 after being held up due to funding issues and coordination with construction on Van Dorn Street from 84th to 93rd. "A" Street opened to traffic on July 14, 2021.

Project Contacts
