Beam Signing

Beam Signing

Wednesday, November 2, 2022

The Air Park neighborhood and other supporters of the project were present for a special beam signing event held in November 2022. Speakers for this news conference included: Mayor Gaylor-Baird, Maggie Stuckey-Ross (Lincoln Parks and Recreation), Traci Glass (Lincoln City Libraries), Jamie Keley (Air park Director, and Jodi Frager (Arnold Elementary School). Students from Arnold Elementary School, City Council, and department directors.

Air Park Center and Williams Branch Project

Since 1979, people of all ages from Lincoln and the Arnold Heights neighborhood have enjoyed the activities and programs provided by the Air Park Recreation Center. Now more than 65 years old, the existing building is reaching the end of its useful life. It is also separated from the nearby neighborhood by a busy street, making it difficult for families and young people to get there safely.

The vision is to build a campus that includes Arnold Elementary School, Williams Branch Library, adjoining parks and recreation facilities including the Air Park Recreation Center and neighborhood improvements.

Space is also reserved for the potential to replace the Arnold Heights Pool at this site in the future.

There were community open houses and updates posted on the Air Park Project page.

Facility:

Gym with 1 full basketball court, 1 volleyball court, and 2 pickleball courts.

Game room with pool, table tennis, foosball, and air hockey.

Wellness rooms with exercise equipment, weights, cardio machines, and space for group classes.

Multipurpose meeting rooms with tables and chair, white boards, projectors, and a catering kitchen.

Rotating around the playground at Air Park Community Center. The playground is airplane themed
