Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation | 2600 block of Vine Street

On October 18, 2021, at approximately 3:10 p.m., Lincoln Police officers responded to a reported assault in the 2600 block of Vine Street. When officers arrived, they found a 29-year-old male had been struck with a pole. Life-saving measures were attempted but sadly, the victim succumbed to his injuries at a local area hospital a short time later. Our staff continue attempts to notify the next of kin of the deceased. We continue to extend our condolences to the deceased’s family and friends, and we ask the public to respect their privacy as they grieve the loss of their loved one.

Uniformed patrol officers, investigators, and crime scene technicians all collaborated to gather evidence and investigate the details surrounding this incident. 50-year-old Brian Adams was quickly developed as a suspect and ultimately located at a residence in southwest Lincoln a few hours after police responded to the scene. Adams was arrested without incident for 2nd Degree Murder and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony.
