Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign Begins in December | 2025

Published on December 01, 2025

The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) today announced it will conduct a DUI enforcement project throughout December focused on preventing impaired driving during one of the busiest travel and celebration periods of the year. Additional officers will patrol during nights and weekends, when alcohol- and drug-impaired driving crashes most often occur.

This specialized enforcement campaign is made possible through a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office and coincides with its national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown. The funding supports additional staffing, allowing officers to proactively locate and arrest impaired drivers, reduce serious crashes, and keep Lincoln’s roads safe.

Impaired driving continues to be a factor in a significant number of serious injury and fatal crashes in Nebraska each year. Nationwide, December is one of the highest-risk months for alcohol-related traffic deaths, particularly around weekends and holidays.

LPD remains committed to reducing these preventable tragedies and appreciates the continued partnership of the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office. LPD encourages the public to celebrate responsibly by designating a sober driver, using rideshare services and reporting suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
