Seventeen year old Lincoln resident Kashuan McCree is in custody for the homicide of 18-year-old Damien Brave, who died after he was shot inside a Lincoln home during a house party on Friday, March 31, 2023.
Investigative members of the Lincoln Police Department and U.S. Marshals arrested the suspect without incident on Thursday afternoon in Detroit, Michigan. He is charged as an adult with first-degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony. We are not currently seeking any additional suspects.
Officers were dispatched to a home in the 1800 block of North 27th Street around 11:30 p.m. Friday night for a report of gunshots. The investigation revealed McCree and Brave had an interaction over a bag held by the victim. That is when McCree fired multiple rounds with a handgun, hitting Brave several times. He was driven to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
We want to extend our condolences to Brave’s family and friends as they grieve his loss. “It is important our community knows our department will track down suspects wherever an investigation leads, using all available resources to bring those responsible to justice,” said Police Chief Teresa Ewins.
