Lincoln Police Make Second Arrest in Child Abuse Death Investigation

The Lincoln Police Department has made a second arrest in connection with a child abuse investigation that resulted in the death of a 22-month-old child.

On Tuesday March 21, 2023, at approximately 9:30 a.m., 30-year-old Brittany Cook was arrested for Child Abuse Resulting in Death. Cook is the mother of the child.

On Sunday March 12, 2023, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Lincoln Police responded to St. Elizabeth Hospital on the report of a 22-month-old child being seen for injuries consistent with abuse. The child was found to have obvious signs of injury and transported to Children’s Hospital in Omaha for a higher level of care. The child succumbed to his injuries on March 17, 2023.
