Victim Succumbs to Injuries from Shooting on Highway 77

On October 30, 2021, at 2:47 a.m., Lincoln Police officers were dispatched to a local area hospital after two men had arrived by personal vehicle with gunshots wounds. One of the victims, 24-year-old Goa Dat of Omaha, suffered multiple gunshot wounds with injuries to the neck and leg. He was admitted to the hospital with life threatening injuries and ultimately died on November 1, 2021.
Goa’s family has been notified of his death. We extend our thoughts and condolences to his family and friends and ask the public to respect their privacy as they grieve his death.
The other victim, a 19-year-old man from Omaha, also suffered multiple gunshot wounds with injuries to the arm and torso. He remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Investigators determined that the victims were the occupants of a passenger car that was northbound on Highway 77 between West A Street and Rosa Parks Way. Shots were fired into the vehicle from an unknown source. This is not believed to be a random act of violence and there is no indication that the public is in danger.
Investigators continue to conduct interviews and analyze evidence to determine the timeline of events leading up to the shooting. There are still individuals yet to be identified who may have witnessed this incident.
