Lincoln Neighborhoods

ClintonTreePlanting.jpg

Lincoln has many neighborhoods, some of which are organized into associations. Although neighborhood associations are not a part of City government, they are much appreciated and respected by City staff. The commitment and involvement of neighborhood association members are key factors in the vitality of both their neighborhoods and the city as a whole.

The City supports community involvement at a grassroots neighborhood level by maintaining a variety of resources, including an interactive map of neighborhood and homeowner associations.

Neighborhood Association Contact List

Contact information for neighborhood association presidents or designated contacts. City staff rely on notification by the neighborhoods to keep this list current and accurate. Please contact urbandev@lincoln.ne.gov to update the list.

This list only includes associations for which membership is voluntary and open to the public - including both owners and renters. For homeowner associations, membership is required as part of the purchase of a home and limited to property owners exclusively. The Planning Department maintains contact information for homeowners associations that have agreed to share their information. In addition, because homeowners associations are typically incorporated, their official contact information can normally be found on the Nebraska Secretary of State's website by using the Corporate Search option.

Mayor's Neighborhood Roundtable

Established in 1984, the Mayor's Neighborhood Roundtable provides a forum for networking with neighborhoods, City government, and other concerned organizations, through:

  • Direct, formal, and informal, discussions between the Mayor, City staff, and neighborhood leaders
  • Exchange of ideas concerning city-wide issues and development processes
  • Shared information and support among the neighborhood associations themselves

Meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month at the County/City Building, 555 South 10th Street, in the Mayor's Conference Room from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

To suggest future Round Table Agenda items, email the Mayor's Roundtable Representative or call 402-441-8211.

Neighborhood Revitalization

  • Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding is sometimes used in low- to moderate-income neighborhoods to improve parks or neighborhood commercial area streetscapes. Examples of completed park improvements include Trago, Belmont, Lakeview, and Idylwild parks. The 11th Street neighborhood commercial area and the area along 11th Street, between Lincoln Mall and A Street, has been the focus of CDBG-funded streetscape improvements for the past several years.
  • 2020 Community Development Week Award winner was the Everett Neighborhood Association. The organization was recognized for their role in the 11th Street Project(PDF, 1MB).
